| Before it began in March 2003, the Iraq War was opposed by over 165
cities which passed resolutions against the invasion. Now, community
organizations and city councils across the nation have begun to call for
an end to military operations in Iraq and a beginning of a peaceful
solution. On March 1st, the Vermont Network on Iraq War Resolutions assisted in the successful passage of resolutions in 46 Vermont towns. These resolutions, "Call on the President and the Congress take steps to withdraw American troops from Iraq, consistently with the mandate of international humanitarian law."
